Happy New Year To All Our Friends
December 8, 2016
Christine Farenhorst is a Canadian writer with deep roots in the CRC, the daughter of a noted minister. Her gift of historically based storytelling is nowhere more evident than in this collection of devotionally enriching narratives. Complete with biblical references and thought-provoking questions, The Sweet Taste of Providence delights the imagination, stimulates the mind, and nourishes the soul. I am honored to recommend it. This past weekend saw the renewal of our London Conference at Community Bible Church, Lucan, Ontario. It was a delight to work the weekend with my old friend in the Gospel, Joseph Pipa; a truly gifted man of God.
We enjoy a great many liberties in Canada. For the time being the greatest freedom is the one which allows us to worship our Lord and God unimpeded by Government opposition. We are grateful and thankful to our Heavenly Father for allowing us to live in a land as great as Canada.
“No more let sins and sorrows grow, nor thorns infest the ground. He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found”. The hymn writer, Isaac Watts, in his now famous Christmas hymn, Joy to the World makes two Biblical claims. The first is heralding the Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. The second, is to state that with His final reign, comes the eradication of humanity’s arch enemy sin and death. The world will be held up for judgment. The books will be opened and the verdict will be declared.
I would remiss if I did not take a moment to publicly thank Pastor Rob Godard, the Elders and leaders of Cloverdale Baptist Church for once again hosting our annual West Coast Conference in Cloverdale, British Columbia. Pastor Godard has put together a fine team of servants who made our weekend a joy and delight with their meticulous attention to detail and their tireless zeal to serve.
In just over two days we will be once again back on the West Coast at Cloverdale Baptist Church. This year we will be featuring Dr. Carl Trueman giving four talks on the Life and Times of Martin Luther. 2017 is right around the corner and those of with Reformed leanings will be celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. We thought we get in on the fun a little early.
We are pleased to announce that at long last Sola Scriptura will be back in London, Ontario on Saturday November 19, 2016. Over the past year or so, we have received a number of inquiries asking us to visit London again. It seemed like the right thing to do so our old friend Dr. Joseph Pipa will make a return visit.
